MONGOLIA: FarmaTrust completes feasibility study with Mongolian Government to rid the country of counterfeit drugs

FarmaTrust, the leader in pharmaceutical supply chain security, announces a further progress with  Mongolian Government to launch the first blockchain track and trace project in the pharmaceutical industry, aimed at eliminating counterfeit medicine in the country. The project is a collaboration between governmental and nongovernmental parties, which includes the Specialized Inspection Agency of Mongolia and the Mongolian e-Government Center NGO. This is further to the MoU signed by all parties in February 2018. Learn More.

Fighting phony pharmaceuticals

Speaking at the “Combating Falsified and Substandard Medicine” conference at the Sofitel Phokeethra Hotel, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that quantity of counterfeit and/or poor quality medicines on the market is increasing.  The almost uncontrollable online sales of medicine is especially disturbing “Falsified medicine sold online may look good but the quality is not – this is a risk to the health of the people.  The public must be educated about this problem.” Learn More.

 

Fifth robotic pharmacy opens

DHA launched the smart pharmacy, which delivers zero dispensing errors

Dubai Health Authority (DHA) recently launched its fifth smart pharmacy in Nadd Al Hamar primary healthcare centre for dispensing and prescribing medication. This is the first smart pharmacy inaugurated in a DHA primary healthcare centre. Learn More.

 

Government tackles counterfeit medication

Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday said the government will crack down on counterfeit medication, noting they pose a threat to people’s health and that online sales have been on the rise.  Speaking during a regional conference on “Combatting Falsified and Substandard Medicine” in Phnom Penh yesterday, Mr Hun Sen said the sale of counterfeit medication is on the rise and that online markets are unregulated, making it difficult to control the substances. China Plans to Discipline Fake Drugmakers With Heavier Fines

Oct. 23 -- China intends to tighten its penalties for firms that sell bogus drugs.

Companies that make or sell counterfeit medicine will face fines from twice to 30 times the value of the products, a draft amendment to the Drug Administration Law suggested. The bill will require an approval from the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. Firms that produce or sell sub-standard drugs will be liable to forfeit from one to fifteen times the product revenue. Legal representatives of firms involved in these cases will be heavily fined and banned from the industry. Learn More.

 

CHINA: Vaccine scandal prompts rethink on drug law

Lawmakers began reviewing a draft amendment to the Drug Administration Law, which toughens penalties for offenders as China cracks down on counterfeit drugs and better regulates the industry. The draft, submitted for the first reading at a bimonthly session of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress on Monday, came a week after Changchun Changsheng, a pharmaceutical company, was hit with a 9.1 billion yuan (US$1.31 billion) fine for producing faulty human rabies vaccines.
